人口及住宅普查係依我國統計法規定，為政府應定期舉辦之基本國勢調查，舉辦普查之目的在於了解全國人口之質量、家庭結構、就學就業及住宅使用狀況，以供為政府研訂施政計畫、規劃國家建設發展之主要參據。
