The delivery of rehabilitation care has markedly changed over the past several years with regards to resource availability and regulatory requirements. These changes have significantly impacted not only rehabilitation medicine but other medical fields as well. As a result, the fourth edition of Medical Aspects of Disability has been significantly revised, updated, and expanded in order to provide pertinent, up-to-the-minute information to health care providers and those studying to provide health care. This revised text describes aspects of disability pertaining to medical conditions commonly encountered in rehabilitation settings in the new environment. The chapters in this new edition describe current concepts, such as integrative medicine as well as specific diseases such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury.
